If you’re thinking about visiting Berlin, then you might be interested that there are plenty of unique facts associated with this city! Here are just a few things which you may not know about capital of Germany.

Firstly, it is a great place for exotic animal lovers, as Berlin is home to not one, but two zoos! The two zoos are located surprisingly close to each other, and were built as a result of Berlin’s former divide. It had also meant that Berlin is now officially the city with the most zoo animals in the world.

If you love shopping, then you’re also in for a treat. Berlin is famed for its weekly flea markets, which you are likely yo find fill of second-hand stalls and antique goods. If vintage isn’t your style, then you may also be interested to know that Berlin is home to the largest department store in continental Europe. Spread of a total of eight floors, you’re sure to be able to spend hours on end indulging in a spot of retail therapy.

For those who may not be such big fans of shopping, this store, called ‘Kaufhaus des Westens’ also houses an outstanding delicatessen section – which also makes it Europe’s largest food department! Why not try one of the local specialities, such as gourmet cheese or sausage?

Berlin is also a city which is full of water, and has approximately 1700 bridges – more , even, than Venice, which is famed for it’s bridges! The rivers also make for a great form of transport. It is easier than you might imagine to explore Berlin by boat, and a scenic alternative if you don’t fancy braving the S-Bahn train network.
